We are pleased to announce our win as Best Narrative Feature at San Luis Obispo International Film Festival as part of the Central Coast Filmmaker Showcase! Our producers, Picture Stable, are based in SLO and Wade and Mark joined them with our cinematorgrapher, Lila Javan, for a reunion evening full of fun! This was very special to the whole team since the film is set and mostly filmed in the area.
Here’s a little shot from the trip home on the Central Coast of California. Beautiful place!
We are thrilled to announce that we have just secured worldwide distribution for TIGER ORANGE. That’s right. If you haven’t seen the movie yet, you will soon get your chance. The good people over at Wolfe Releasing will be handling the release. Wolfe is a boutique, artist-friendly distributor with a stellar catalogue of quality, independent, LGBT-themed films. They are celebrating their 30th year in business and we are beyond excited to partner with them for the release.
As 2014 comes to a close, I am looking back on what has been one of the most rewarding years of my life. From the amazing premiere of TIGER ORANGE at Outfest in July to the dozens of film festivals we’ve screened all over the world, this year has definitely proven to be one for the books. We attended festivals in Oslo, Madrid, Bologna, Seattle, Ft Lauderdale, Chicago and Sacramento. Not to mention New York and Atlanta where our families came out to support. Mark won the acting award at Outfest. Frankie won in Madrid. The film took top honors in Madrid and Bronze in Chicago. We were also an audience favorite in Sacramento and Palm Springs. We’ve made new friends from all over the world. The audiences have been so incredibly warm and enthusiastic, coming up to us after the screenings, emailing us from afar, telling us how the film touched them, how the brothers’ relationship in the film felt like home. I can’t tell you how, after putting so much hard work into this over the past two years, how gratifying it is to get this kind of feedback.
So, friends, let us bid 2014 adieu. Thank you for your continued support and if you haven’t yet had the chance to see the film, stay tuned. We’ve got some VERY EXCITING NEWS to report in the new year. Yep, the best is yet to come!!
We just got back from our whirlwind European tour! We played the Gender Bender Film Festival in Bologna, Italy (check out the festival poster on the streets of Bologna!) and LesGaiCineMad in Madrid, Spain where Tiger Orange won Best Film and Frankie Valenti won Best Actor! How cool is that?!
Missed our screening in Bologna and live in Italy? Well, we are playing in Florence Nov 26th at the Florence Queer Festival!

Mark, Frankie and myself have been traveling non-stop on the festival circuit. In the first half of October alone, we’ve screened Atlanta, Winnipeg, Fort Lauderdale, Seattle, Tampa and Sacramento where we won Audience Favorite.
And there’s more to come! It has been absolutely amazing sharing the film with enthusiastic, sold-out crowds all around the world. And the response has been so gratifying. So many people reaching out to us to let us know how the film touched them, how they connected with the story, how they too have a gay brother or sister, what it was like coming out in a small town, and more. There is no greater thrill for me as a filmmaker than when someone comes up to me after a screening and begins to tell me THEIR story. That’s when I know I’m doing something right.
We’ve got a few more screenings before the end of the year (Italy and Spain, anyone?!) and then a whole new slate of festivals in 2015. Be sure to check the screenings tab above or follow us on Facebook for all the up-to-date news. Thanks as always for being with us on this incredible journey.
